For 50 years the Patrouille Suisse and for 25 years the PC-7 Team have been the acrobatic teams representing Switzerland in the skies. The Patrouille Suisse was the opening act, followed by teams from over a dozen countries. In addition to formation flights, the show featured historic aircraft used by Swiss armed forces. Fighter jets, helicopters and airplanes of other countries’ armed forces also hit the skies above Payerne, the little town where one of the Swiss Air Force’s bases is located.
The Swiss Air Force’s mission is the policing and defense of Switzerland’s air space. F/A-18s perform air policing tasks on a daily basis and support the security forces from the air during special events, such as the G8 Summit and the World Economic Forum (WEF).
